Accumulators
A hydraulic accumulator is a simple mechanical device which stores the potential energy of practically any non-compressible fluid held under pressure by an external source against some dynamic force. This dynamic force may be in the form of gravitational force, the elasticity of mechanical springs or the compressibility of gases. The stored potential energy in the accumulator is readily available as a quick secondary source of fluid power when called upon to do useful work by the requirements of the system in which it is used.
